Priscilla Rivera

Priscilla Rivera...Priscilla had been a stay-at home mom for 12 years while raising her kids. When she made the decision to leave her abusive husband, she was left with nothing. Priscilla couldn’t earn enough to live on, much less save any money. So when she got laid off from her job, she became desperate and moved into a garage with no bathroom or kitchen.

A friend told her about the Strong Beginning’s Program at the Orange County Rescue Mission. The Mission helped her get subsidized housing, and helped keep her stay afloat with groceries, clothes, and gas cards while she was in job training. After she graduated, her training had qualified her to get a $12-an-hour job. Since then, she’s been able to make ends meet while she goes to school to continue to improve her job skills. Priscilla believes that one day soon, she will be able to support her children on her own.

Priscilla says, “Thank you to everyone who gives to keep the Mission going.”

The above story is yet another real example of a real life that has been filled with HOPE by a combination of compassionate giving, hands-on ministry and the grace of God. Thank you for your role in bringing it to pass.
