Fred Lawyer

Fred Lawyer...After 15 years of working full-time, Fred lost his job and his apartment. Together with his son, they stayed temporarily in a motel until he could find another job. A year and a half later, he was still struggling with day labor jobs. When Social Services discovered that Fred was homeless, they took custody of his son, with no chance to win him back in court.

Through an encounter with a social worker on a bus, Fred was introduced to the New Life program at the Orange County Rescue Mission. She was certain that the program would provide all the necessary steps to get his son back. After a year of being in the program and faithfully praying, God answered Fred’s prayers.

With the help of the Mission, Fred got a job with a wireless internet company, saved up $2,400, moved into an apartment, and bought a car. Now he has custody of his son again. His experience at the Mission transformed Fred’s life. He still attends church, volunteers and sets an example for his son, in becoming a godly man.

“I know God answers prayers,” Fred says. “I know God is using the Mission to change lives. And I’m going to do everything I can to give something back.”

The above story is yet another real example of a real life that has been filled with HOPE by a combination of compassionate giving, hands-on ministry and the grace of God. Thank you for your role in bringing it to pass.
